Automated speaker testing and
verification plugin for QSC® Q-SYS™

Speaker Test UCI - Forward Thinking Designs

Speaker Test is an automatic speaker testing plugin for QSC©'s Q-SYS™, designed to give users a tool for automated checking and reporting of speaker health* in a room environment. Utilizing a permanently installed microphone in the measurement space, Speaker Test compares scheduled RTA measurements to a stored trace for each speaker and reports any anomalies that fall outside the predetermined parameters. Speaker Test then notifies technical personnel via Slack and/or email. Controls for Speaker Test can be easily placed on a User Control Interface (UCI) within Q-SYS™.

*Speaker Test is designed primarily to identify major failures or gross anomalies of either the complete loudspeaker or individual loudspeaker components. It is not intended as a system tuning or validation tool.

64 Channels

Each instance of the plugin supports up to 64 channels, enough for small 5.1 mix suites to full-sized Dolby™ Atmos exhibition spaces. Need even more channels? No problem - multiple instances of Speaker Test can be run with additional licenses.

Reports to Slack or email

At the completion of each test cycle a full report or faults only can be sent directly to your email or Slack channel.

Test Your Way

Speaker Test allows you to choose between Pink Noise or Sine Sweep as your test source. The pass/fail tolerance is user definable. High Pass and Low Pass filters allow you to check only the frequencies relevant to the designated speaker. A signal presence detector allows quick detection of complete speaker failure. Speaker Test also includes a variety of control pins allowing for additional features such as a room occupancy detector which will prevent the test from running if the room is occupied.

Test on Your Schedule

The built-in scheduler function allows the test to be run automatically at the time and on the days of your choosing. Set the plugin to test early in the morning and have the report delivered to you by the time you arrive to the facility. Speaker Test saves you time by allowing your technicians to focus on only those systems that need immediate attention.

Where can/should I use Speaker Test?

Originally developed for film studio mix suites, Speaker Test can be used in any environment where stable measurements can be obtained on a repeated basis. microphone placement does not have to be ideal as the plugin is simply comparing the active measurement to the reference measurement and flagging anomalies.

Speaker Test needs to measure the room under the same conditions as when the reference measurement was captured. The plugin does provide the ability to add a room occupancy sensor to prevent it from attempting to run when the room is occupied.

What if there are people in the room when the test is supposed to run?
  • Q-SYS Core running Q-SYS v9.4 or later.

    • Use of User Control Interfaces requires a Q-SYS™ Core UCI Deployment Software License

    • iOS Q-SYS Control v3.6 is required for iPad deployment

  • Speaker Test requires a measurement microphone to be permanently or repeatedly mounted in the active environment.
